The Office of the Orissa Public Service Commission is functioning in its own building located at Cuttack in the State of  Orissa.Public Service Commission in India owed their origin to the recommendations of the Royal Commission on superior services in India, 1924, referred to in short, as the Lee Commission, and now they find place in the Constitution of India in Articles 315 to 323. The Orissa Public Service Commission was constituted on 1st April, 1949 after it’s bifurcation from the former Bihar and Orissa Joint Public Service Commission. At the time of creation of the Orissa Public Service Commission the strength of the Commission was three including Chairman . The strength increased to five in the year 1979 and further increased to six in the year 1996.

The Commission has acquired varied experiences and expertise in the matter of selection of personnel to various services of the Government of Orissa during its functioning for more than five decades. It has also gone a long way in achieving the purpose of drawing the best personnel for the public services of Orissa.

The Utkal University, established in the year 1943, is the seventeenth oldest University in India. Its present campus at Vani Vihar, BHUBANESWAR is located on a sprawling 399.9 Acre area in the heart of BHUBANESWAR, with the Sainik School to its north, National High way No.5 to its south, Regional Research Laboratory and Institute of Physics to its west and the South Eastern Railway line to its east. The Foundation stone of this Campus was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India on 1st January 1958 and the Campus was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India on 2nd January 1963. This is a teaching-cum-affiliating University. There are at present twenty-seven Post-Graduate Departments located in the University Campus for Post-Graduate studies and research in various disciplines of Science, Humanities ,Business Administration, Social Science, Law and Commerce. The total number of students in the P.G. Department of the campus at Vani Vihar is nearly 3,000. This is in fact the largest affiliating University in the country with approximately 267 affiliated Colleges (Degree Colleges-219, Professional College-44, Other Constituent Colleges-2) under its jurisdiction.

The University has now the jurisdiction over 9 districts, viz, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri and is spread over an area of 24,973 sq. kilometers catering to the needs of higher education of a population of more than 110 lakhs.

At present the University has twenty-seven Post-Graduate teaching and research departments located within the campus and three constituent Institutions, viz. Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education, University Law College at Vani Vihar and M.S. Law College at Cuttack. Besides the regular courses, twenty-six sponsored courses are offered under the direct academic control of the P.G. Council of the University.

Berhampur University is a university near Berhampur, Odisha, India. It is one of the oldest and major universities of Odisha, the others being Utkal at Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur University.

The university came into existence on 2 January 1967, after a bill was passed in the Orissa Legislative Assembly and was inaugurated by Ayodhya Nath Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa and the first Chancellor of the University.

The first Vice Chancellor, Justice Lingaraj Panigrahi was a jurist, educationist and educational administrator from Berhampur town. His tenure was brief and the task of establishing the infant university then fell to Raghunath Prasad Padhi.

Padhi appointed distinguished scholars to senior positions in the university. In Botany, the first Head of Department was Harihar Pattnaik, who later became the Vice Chancellor of the university and was also the Chairman of the Regional Railway Recruiting Board. U. N. Biswal later became Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University. Chemistry was the only visible research school of the university in the initial years. In History the archaeologist Krushna Chandra Panigrahi was Head of Department.

The Head of Department of Physics was S. N. Behera. Behera left for the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, where he became Director later. He rejoined Berhampur University again in 2002 as the Vice Chancellor. Members of the faculty of Political Science included J. K. Baral, who later served as the Vice Chancellor of the university and completed a full term and S. Nanda, who later became the Vice Chancellor of the newly created Fakir Mohan University, Balasore. The Head of Department of Zoology, C. C. Das, was the sectional president for Zoology in the Indian Science Congress, 1975.

Orissa Staff Selection Commission, Bhubaneswar declared Junior Assistant Preliminary Examination Result 2011. In accordance with the provisions of Rule-15 of Orissa Staff Selection Commission Rules, 1993 and on the basis of the performance of the preliminary examination held on 29-08-2010, in response to advertisement No.229/OSSC dt.01-02-2010, the candidates bearing the following roll numbers have been found qualified to appear in the Main (Written) Test for the post of Junior Assistant for Heads of Department to be held on 27-02-2011(Sunday).

Individual call letters to the concerned candidates are being sent separately by post.

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Rourkela has been established by an Act of the Assembly, Government of Orissa in June 2002. All Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture and most of the colleges offering MCA and MBA degree programmes are either constituent or affiliated colleges of this University.

The Biju Patnaik University of Technology ( BPUT ), Orissa, with its head-quarters in Rourkela came into being in November 2002 through an act of the Government. The main objective of instituting the University was to ensure a high quality of students coming out of the technical colleges through a common curriculum and uniform evaluation. Today, the University has 110 colleges, both constituent and affiliated, with around 58,000 students. The disciplines include engineering and architecture, business management and hotel management, computer studies and pharmacy. Several of these offer both undergraduate and post graduate studies.
