WIHG invites applications for the under mentioned purely temporary tenured positions in the following project sponsored by Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.

1. Project Scientist-C : 01 Post
Qualification: Ph.D. in any area of the Earth Science, preferably in Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics/Seismology with at least three years of experience in the handling of seismological/geophysical equipments or modern numerical tools for processing variety of geophysical time series. Or B. E/ B. Tech. in Electronics/ Electrical & Communication/ Instrumentation with at least five years of experience in handling geophysical instruments (seismological, geodetic, radon etc.) or M.Sc/M.Tech in Physics/Electronics with 5 years of experience in handling and maintenance of geophysical/seismological equipments Knowledge of hardware and data communication by VSAT technology will be an added advantage.
Pay Scale : Rs.15600-39100-Grade pay Rs. 6,600/- plus admissible allowances.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 40 years as on 01.10.2010

2. Project Scientist-B : 01 Post
Qualification: 1st Class M.Sc./ M.Tech in Geology/Geophysics/Physics or allied subject with work experience in any modern areas of earthquake related sciences. The candidates having Ph. D. in relevant area or experience in installation, operation and maintenance of seismological and geophysical equipments and data processing will be preferred. Or B.E/B.Tech. in Electronics/Electrical & Communication/Instrumentation with at least two years of experience in handling geophysical instruments (seismological, geodetic, randon etc.).
Pay Scale : Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 – Grade Pay Rs. 5,400/- plus admissible allowances.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 35 years as on 31.10.2010

3. Junior Research Fellow : 02 Posts
Qualification : 1st class M.Sc./M.Tech. degree in Geology/Geophysics/Physics. Working knowledge in the operation/processing of seismological/geophysical equipments/data will be preferred. Knowledge of computer language would be additional merit
Pay Scale : Rs. 12,000/- p.m.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on 31.10.2010.

4. Project Assistant : 02 Posts
Qualification : M.Sc. Physics or B.Sc. with minimum 1st or high 2nd class (with Physics as one of the subject)/ Diploma in Electronics/Electrical & Communication. The working knowledge of computer/Geophysical instrument will be additive qualification.
Pay Scale : Rs. 8000/- p.m. consolidated / fixed.
Age Limit : Not exceeding 28 years as on 31.10.2010.
